The sports day

Early 1970s

The day "Saturday" in those days as early as 1970, was set for all sports for all Primary Schools in the Copperbelt and in Chililabombwe, one school would be at home to host the other school in a district sports competition. The following week, the same schools will meet in the other school's venue according to the schedule.
Our sports master would make sure each pupil participated in any game or if not, those that did not have a sport should come to watch and give support to the teams of the School by cheering failure to which punishment would be imposed on the absentee.
I liked Saturdays as I got more opportunities to mingle with girls.
